about

The third track to be featured on Tha TruthTella's mixtape, Worldwide Souljaz Vol. 3: Revenge of Tha Truth (thatruthtella.bandcamp.com/album/worldwide-souljaz-vol-3-revenge-of-tha-truth). The opening sample is from Anger Management, which is not in the league of Adam Sandler's masterpieces (Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore), but does have some good jokes, and I've always really liked the actor, Luis Guzman, who delivers the monologue you hear in the song. Anyway, Truth chose the sample, and we both agree that the movie's not great, but that moment is, especially for this song. On the verses, I was trying to do a different kind of flow than I'd ever done before, and I think the delivery may have been influenced a bit by Kendrick Lamar on tracks like "m.A.A.d. city," where he just sounds so urgent and almost breathless. It's basically a battle song that starts off by saying, "Just so you know, it's no battle, all loving, cousin."
