about

These lyrics go back almost to the beginning of my career, with a few minor edits. It was really my first attempt at just rhyming non-stop for the length of a song.

lyrics

I put my thoughts onto paper or wax for you to read or hear
I wanna staple these tracks to ya forehead till you heed me clear
A politician's main and only goal is just to feed the fear
While evangelists brainwash you in order to keep you near
Now which one of these is a test of ya faith in Jesus
And which one is merely just babblings from a heathen
Or perhaps this world's suffering a lapse in reason
And soon songs like this one might be considered treason
There's a season for everything, or so they like to tell you
Or at least there'll always be one for bullshit they wanna sell you
They can smell you for miles if you're a sucker, so I delve through
The mysteries of history, nearly drove myself to Bellevue
Couldn't believe the inhumanity of which we're all capable
No matter who you are, your inherent insanity's inescapable
It's debatable whether I'll ever really be paid in full
So I stay on the daily grind to feed my mind, it's insatiable!
I rock mics in battles, bars, nightclubs, and in colleges
I'll fuck up your shit like a Tourette's-ridden scatologist
Let's abolish this wack nonsense from our acknowledgement
Sucker, duck down if you don't wanna get hit with all this spit!
I'm bombin it, dominant like the U.S. military
They say it's to protect our people, but still, it's scary
Cuz I don't believe in "our people" or "their people," I'm wary
Of anyone with a gun in one hand and the Virgin Mary
In the other, it's crazy, I say, please, peep this, brother:
We keep on preaching freedom while conceding, peace we smother
The army be recruitin poor kids under deepest cover,
Which paves the way to a day of grief for another sleepless mother
I don't believe that God ain't there, I just don't believe in prayer,
And I would be naive to believe that life will always be fair
On the eve of your destruction, count the few who really care,
And among the three, count me as one of the ones who is aware
I stay sharper than a razor blade refined a thousand times
But I don't need to tell you that, man, just listen to these mounting rhymes
Count the times I slip up when you hear me spouting lines
And you'll see that it ain't many, as I constantly reroute my mind
Devoutly time every single message that I give you
Ask a lot of questions, answers come from what I live through
Continue to filter out the nonsense like a sieve (true!)
And got something to say about nearly every issue
I wish you could see what I see, but where would that leave us?
Without different opinions, the conformity would be grievous
Assimilation doesn't work, society can't achieve this
Peace and unity we preach without discarding the needless
For those who don't know, I mean politicians who control
Nearly every aspect of your life without getting ya say-so
Take no prisoners, don't be afraid to explode
In the face of all these fakes who wanna make you haul the next load
Of bloody bodies murdered in the fight to get they life back
So many strong black men weakened or dead from smoking white crack
Like throwin rocks at caged people and claiming that they like that,
We invade, take all the resources, and say, "Hey, we'll be right back!"
First in words like "aardvark," shifty like a card shark,
I be forsakin emcees, leave em quaking in they Carhartts
Got to crawl, then walk, before you learn to make a car start,
But learning to live without oil, that's gonna be the hard part
Start smart and end that way, never gonna give up
To your expectations I'll continually live up
Cut you with my observations, sharper than a shiv, what?
You got something to say? Then don't hesitate to get up!
